However, once again, we must be aware of possible stereotypes here. Even if we admit that a group of people shows certain features, we should always be aware that these are generalizations, and generalizations can very easily lead to make naïve inferences about individuals within that group. In other words, whenever we meet a new Chinese learner we can’t  assume that she or he will conform to the patterns of her or his cultural group. One consistent finding of research, for example, has been that, within a group, the differences among individuals are as great as their similarities.
