Obviously,
they can’t be left alone to do this. They will need to experience a variety
of tasks, tasks which call for a wide range of styles and strategies; they
will need to be gradually exposed to unfamiliar approaches and learn how to
select ways of doing tasks; and they will need help in using self-assessment
tools. In this way we hope that, gradually, they can become aware of their
own styles and how these can be adapted to different tasks and contexts.
