Below the surface we definitely find our own learning processes. In this particular case (reading), we are concerned with the reception process, which includes includes such recursive phases as
Planning – framing:
selecting the context and knowledge of the world which is relevant to the text
activating schemata
setting up expectations
Execution: Identifying cues and inferring from them
Evaluation: Hypothesis testing: matching cues to schemata
Repair: Revising hypothesis
Between performance and learning processes, just below the surface, we can find strategies: specific, concrete actions undertaken by the learner to make learning easier, i.e. to optimize the working of his/her own processes in a particular context, for the particular purpose of the task at hand.
