First, experience. Learners need to be faced with a problem and go through the process of problem-setting and problem-solving. For example, let’s assume we have four different magazine articles in four different languages – they cover the same event (for instance, an important football match) or at least the same topic area (for instance, sports). For the sake of clarity, let’s call these articles TOTTI, BECKHAM, ZIDANE and SCHUMACHER. These four texts may be at different levels of complexity.
